Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there has experiance with this setup. I am thinking about it for a HT that I am building. It will be driving Energy RC-70 fronts with the RC-LCR center and the RC-R rears. I have a Panasonic AX-100U, a PS3 and will be adding a HD DVD player to the mix at some point. If anyone has any other suggestions that I should look at in the <$1000 dollar price range that would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

The Emotiva combos offer HDMI switching only, so no audio processing or video upconverting. It may be better to spend <$1000 on a nice receiver. The Onkyo TX-SR805 is right at the top of your price range and packs a wallop for the price. It has HDMI 1.3 (for the newest of the new HDMI devices) Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, and DTS-HD master audio decoding. It also features THX Ultra II certification, so it carries the garranty that it has enough power to achieve reference levels in a larger room. The unit is heavy as well, a tad over 50 pounds.

Onkyo TX-SR805

I don't have experience with Emotiva's products, but I do with Onkyo's and my experience has always been good. They are easy to use and setup.

Emotiva combo

Check out the AV123 forum for more feedback on the Emotiva Ultra combo. There are a few quirks to the LMC-1 pre/pro, but I have only heard good things about the LPA-1 amp. I plan to add an LPA-1 to my system and use my receiver as a pre-pro soon. Emotiva will offer a 40% discount on updated processors (out early next year) to existing owners. They will also include HDMI 1.3.
