Does anyone know what version of HDMI is used on Emotiva products? I've searched their website and don't see any information on it. I have the external HDMI switcher they offer and am wondering what benefits there are for it.

Not sure, but I can guarantee you it's lower than 1.3.

Yeah, I figured that it probably was since it came out before that version had been made yet, but I am curious as to what version it is. Anyone know? Also, I wonder if they will be releasing any new switchers for their products or if I will have to buy a new processor.

Emotiva switcher

On the simple switcher, it connects the incomming wires to the output so there shouldn't be any concern over HDMI versions. If it is doing a repeater function that it might not be compatible with the latest HDMI revision, however, all the recent updates relate to audio formats and connections from the source to the receiver. If you are using the HDMI switching on one of the current EMO products then it does not do any HDMI audio processing.

I don't see any news on their site about any new switchers. But you should be able to get the 40% off deal if you upgrade.

So, basically as long as I have components that can do internal processing, this Emo setup should be fine, correct? Do I still have the advantage of the latest HDMI version? Will this switcher work with up to date components? I plan to use the PS3 for movies, and an SACD player for music playback. So I'm trying to get the best audio and video performance possible. Will this setup work for that?

HDMI audio

Soundman,
The PS3 does not have analog outputs so you can not take advantage of the new audio formats with your current pre-pro. The HDMI switch you have is an external switch, just like one you could buy from monoprice or other sources, and does not allow HDMI audio to interface to the receiver.

If you take advantage of the 40% discount and upgrade to the UMC-1 pre-pro then you will have all of the latest features.

The LMC-2 will have HMDI 1.3 and support the latest audio codecs. I picked up the MMC-1 at a great price planning to upgrade in the future with the 40% discount.

Respectfully,

Paul
