Well, I can't say that I'm surprised by it, I kind of expected it. The USP-1 is being phased out. I own this one, it's a fine preamp. Nothing super fancy about it, pretty good build quality, and gets the job done well and cheap.
My guess is the XSP will replace it (at about 2x the normal price of the USP). I remember reading a while back that the USP was kind of a stopgap for the end of the RSP and the start of the XSP.
On the positive side, if anybody has been on the fence, the refurbs are now $350 and this is a heck of a pre for that price.
