Embedded Speakers in Ceiling

So I am buying a house where the builder added speakers into the ceiling of the Master bathroom, 2 in the Kitchen, wired up the Deck for 2 speakers, and wired up the garage with 2 speakers. He has adjuster nobs at each of the 4 locations to control just those speakers volumes.

My questions is probably pretty simple. All the speaker cables come out at the top of the pantry. For the best sound do i hook each cable up to just the front speaker ports on a cheap reciever? I am wanting optimal clear sound to resonate through the speakers but not sure how it works with a total of 7 speakers for just music.

I have spots on the back of this cheap reciever I am getting for 4 speakers.

So was curious what you guys thought or If you know of a better deal. All I am going to be using this for is to stream my Itunes library through an Airport express to it for ambiance and relaxation. If you know of a reciever that is ~$100 or cheaper with optical ports then I am all ears (airport express can do optical).

Thanks for your help.

You will need an impedance matching/protected speaker selector/switcher.

You could also find an impedance matching device and run all of the speakers out of it.

In either case, you need a two channel amplifier or receiver to run the system. I would make sure that the amplifier/receiver is capable of a 4 ohm load. Most of those devices regulate down to 4 ohms.

speaker switcher

Funny, I was in the exact same position a couple of years ago when I moved into a rental house. I purchased a (what I thought was) inexpensive speaker switcher from Radio Shack for about $40 that did the impedance matching. I then used my old 25W NAD integrated amp to drive the system. Worked fine. I used a labler to mark the switches so I could keep them all straight. Have fun! It's nice being able to easily have music all over the house and outside.
