Also not 100% sure if a buy for me either, but very decent flick. The antagonist was sort of the downfall, even though I liked the character, he came off a bit too simple. Visually impressive except during action sequences with the "jumping around" hand held style of camera work to conceal some of the CGI, but it still looked good overall. Audio was very nicely done as well. If you liked District 9, you will probably like this one, since they share a similar feel (same director) and a similar look to the action. The review I read said it wasn't as good as District 9, but I disagree; though it is a bit slower and thinner in story than D9, I thought it was just as good.
