Hello every one
I'm Noor and i am a Syrian teacher of English
I've been looking for a thorough list of prefixes and suffixes used in electronics terminology like "-ode" in words like diode, hexode, and tetrode, but I couldnt find a one, and most websites just offer glossaries and acronyms but not prefixes and suffixes.
I wonder if any one can help me find a useful source

Welcome to the forum!

The first thing that came to my mind was the etymology of the words. One sight that might help out is the one linked here.

This one is specific you your examples:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/-ode?db=luna

The di, tri, tetr, pent and hex are numerical designators, for 2,3,4,5 and 6 electrodes. In the definition, it shows -ode can be used to mean way, or path and this applies to your use here.

I use the dictionary.com site a lot.
