I've noticed that most of the vintage Electro Voice T35a horn tweeters have a round magnet structure, but occationally I will see a square magnet. The round magent looks to be much larger than in the square version.

Is there a difference in the quality of the two even though they have the same model number?

Anyone know about this?
.....DLStryker, I have had experience with woofers, mid-range drivers, and tweeters by Electro-Voice....I liked the woofers and mid-range drivers made by them a lot, but the tweeter I got from them got sent back quickly....it had an offensive raspiness to it, and I knew right off the bat it was not for me, and that puzzled me considering it was made by EV, a quite reputable company with a rich history, and maybe the one I had was simply defective, I don't know....the one I sent back had a round magnet....if you are considering an EV tweeter, you might consider a piezo driver, mounted on a metal bell controlled by an L-pad, and point it up to bounce off the ceiling and disperse to the listening area, which is what I did, and the results were VERY good....wish I could help more....I have no idea why EV made the smaller square magnet tweeter....I have an 800 number for the Electro-Voice service department if you would like to call them and ask....I will send you the 800 number by PM....welcome to Audioholics.com, by the way, where answers are not winged, as evidenced by this being the only response to your question.....

The round magnet is a T-35, and has an AlNiCo magnet. The square magnet is the T-35A, which has a ceramic magnet. My old 1975 Klipsch Heresy speakers had the T-35 AlNiCo, which was the only driver in that speaker I liked. I've never heard the T-35A ceramic, but it did spec out to 20K whereas the AlNiCo tweet only speced to 16K. Some Klipsch forum fans prefer the AlNiCo T-35. I do know it was a smooth, detailed tweeter. Klipsch referred to the T-35 and T-35A as K-77 and K-77M, respectively.
