Do the high end power cables make a difference??

Has anyone purchased or listened to PS Audio "Power Plant Premier"? What are your thoughts

The only difference is to your wallet.

Well. That's not entirely true. They can be more esthetically pleasing (pretty) or ergonomically convenient (flat so you can walk across them on a flat floor without hurting your foot)... but they have no effect on the sound.

I'm sure that a power cable sounds exactly like any other power cable, nothing. The only time you run into problems is when the copper line is not thick enough to handle the current. A manufacturer would never put a power cable onto their device that was not adequate.

"High end" power cables are pointless. As long as the connectors and wire gauge are adequate things are fine.

There are a number of reasons that this is the case.

First off, are all those miles of power lines going to the house something fancy? Of course not. That being the case, are a few feet really going to make a huge difference in the quality of the power you get? Not really. What goes into that cord doesn't come out any better than what goes in.

Even if the cord made much of a difference in the quality of the power (which, again, it cannot), would it matter that much? In most cases, no. Most modern electronics have a decent tolerance for minor power fluctuations and line noise. Without it, electronic devices would fail more often.

If you live in an area that has real issues, some (including myself) would suggest a voltage regulator to smooth out transients. On average it is more for longevity of equipment than performance, but in some cases it might help performance as well.
