I have been waiting for a receiver that implements at least part of your suggestions in your excellent review of Yamaha's RX-V2400 (see quote below).

While you take your time to prepare your review of the RX-V2500, can you tell us here, briefly, if any of the suggestions have been implemented?

Is the user manual available anywhere for download?

Quote from http://www.audioholics.com/productreviews/avhardware/YamahaRXV-2400Receiver-p1.html

Suggestions for Improvement

* Parametric room correction (1/12th octave resolution or better) for low frequencies (where it is needed most) with bandwidth limiting application say 20Hz to 200Hz for all channels, including the subwoofer.
* Ability to limit room correction amplitude increments to within a specific +/- range.
* Manually adjustable PEQ settings.
* Multiple equalization settings to accommodate different listening positions.
* Subwoofer output in two channel "Direct" mode by paralleling the incoming audio signal via a relay to the DSP for processing to the subwoofer.
* On the fly non-retained channel trim adjustment capability.
* Independent subwoofer level and crossover settings for two channel and multi channel modes of operation.
* Ability to reroute main channels to "Presence" channels for a 9.1 set-up with external power amps for the main channels.

Clint hasn't yet received his sample. I believe he should have it by the end of next week. Since this is such a hot item, this review takes top priority for him and he should have it completed by Nov 1st assuming he gets the sample in time.

I can tell you the sub out does have a PEQ and the PEQ is adjustable! This is a step in the right direction and we are pleased Yamaha takes our criticisms seriously.

When will this be available, and can you suggest a place where a guy can get a great price.

So does this new v2500 receiver has additional features the flagship you reviewed (rx-z9) does not have and has Yamaha added any additional software upgrades as far as usability of this new receiver the z9 is missing?
I wonder if Yamaha plans any upgrades to the z9 especially some of the "wish" list items you had on your review..

Gene,
Do we know yet if the rxv 2400 or rxz9 will have any type of flash upgrades via their rs232 ports?

The minor software enhancements of the 2500 should not be too difficult to emulate into some sort of upgrade for existing models, primarily speaking of the GUI and sub PEQ.

It seems like it would be easy enough to do. However, then the added cost of the 2500 over the existing 2400 wouldn't be justifiable...

Or, maybe due to the lack of availability and (possible) outstanding customer support, they would indeed provide some sort of upgrade to the two existing models.

Oh well, I can only be optimistic!

Heard it through the grapevine...
Some things you might look for on an RX-V2500:
GUI very much like that on RX-Z9
Improved YPAO - faster setup
YPAO has a memory - place the mic in one listening area, run the YPAO. Then place it in a second area in that room, run YPAO again. User selectable for each listening/viewing area.
130 wpc x 7 (RMS)
3 component video inputs
Selectable 9 band subwoofer x-over
$999

I just went through the manual and didn't see any mention of PEQ for the sub.

Where did you get the manual from?

Thx.

I'm reviewing the receiver now and there is indeed no parametric EQ for the subwoofer channel. 7-bands per speaker/channel with 62.5Hz being the lowest adjustable frequency.

Sorry about the confusion, we were under the wrong impression regarding the sub EQ.

Review is going well and it's great to have Yamaha DSP back in the Reference System, even if only for a little while.

I'd like to know if the eq system can tell the difference between the rooms response and the speakers response like Pioneer's advanced MCACC.
