Edgar Villchur dies at 94

Edgar Villchur, one of the most influential and important audio innovators of the second half of the 20th century died.

Among his innovations were the acoustic suspension design for woofers pioneered by his company Acoustic Research. He also is credited with the AR-XA turntable, which successfully isolated acoustic feedback and rumble from record players.

Some smart audio guy talked about his various accomplishments and meeting him before the main event got going. I was most amused by Villchur being referred to as an old socialist because of his ideal business model where everything is dependent on consumer pull as opposed to manufacturer push.
