ED Plate Amps

I think I am going back the DIY Route and going to have ED build me a box for my dual 10" eclipse subs. I have the options to purchase my plate amp from ED at a discount since they are building the box for me. How do their amps stack up against the O-Audio amps. I can get the 500 W ED plate amp for less than the 500 W O-Audio.

I'm not a fan of plate amps. A single Ep1500 could drive both your subs at around half the cost with more head room. Ditch the plate amp idea and use that space for rockwool.

I'm sure it's the same plate amps they use for their subs, so unless you have heard bad things about the amps in their subs, go for it. Plus, if you are having eD build your box, you could have it built so the amp is flush mounted.

How are Elemental Designs prices? I live close enough that I could pick it up to save on shipping as well. I've been debating building the kappa perfect and really didn't want to try and build my own box.

I am considering doing a large dual 10" ported box for $300, that is with the corners rounded, flush mount subs, internal bracing and painted the texture that all the subs are done in. I think that is fairly reasonable. I am also getting a discount on the plate amp if I buy it from them also. I just do not have all the tools at home to do it as well. Not to mention I would likely spend about $150+ in materials to do the same project.
