Well, I've finally completed my setup: 21txh as my receiver, 5.0 EMP impression series, and now eD's A3-300. It took me a little while to pick out a sub, and I was initially going to get something smaller, but I wanted to make sure I did it right the first time, and boy am I glad I did.
The A3-300 rocks. For $550 shipped to my door, I couldn't ask for anything else. I know I have it smushed away in the corner, but I did the room crawl and it sounds great all around.
So, for my listening tests, I have all speakers set to small, sub crossover on the receiver at 80 hz, 0.0 dB on the receiver and the gain on the amp about a quarter of the way up. The result, pure clean bass for normal listening, earth shaking LFE at higher volumes.
I've watched Terminator Salvation and The Dark Knight with it for my extreme bass test. Holy cow.. the couch shakes like crazy during the opening sequences of both movies. But obviously that's not where it stops.. My favorite part is in the tunnel scene of The Dark Knight and when the bat mobile is skidding, you can literally "feel" the tires skipping off the pavement of the streets. It's something that you just have to experience...
Music sounds great, of course with rap it hits. But I don't notice any muddiness. Remember, I'm not a pro here so for your average guy, I think it's amazing. Let me say too, I never auditioned any of the equipment, I just pieced the entire system together from everyone's opinions online, so thanks for the help. But now after adding the sub, I couldn't be happier with the performance and quality of the setup. I'm still just blown away with it all. So any questions, let me know. But I give the A3-300 a solid 2 thumbs up and now have a constant smile on my face everyday!
