Economy doesn't want to let up...or pick up

I've been trying to do my part by spending some money here and there, but things just aren't picking up. I guess I can say I still have a job, but we had to take further cuts. I have been reduced to a 4 day work week. While I like the idea of having another day off, I am also losing that pay :( I guess it is a lot better than being unemployed.

Sorry to read that you've been cut back, John, but I am happy that you're still employed. I'm guessing that your health insurance is through your job, and that's expensive if you have to get it yourself.

I was self employed for a while, so I know full well how much that costs. Not something I would like to have to do.

In the Northwoods... the economy always lets up some in the winter. Eagle River is fully a "tourist town"... we make all of our cash when the people from Southern Wisconin and Illinois come up here for the summer, and then the winter brings a whole new meaning to "dead". Everyone in town here is still waiting to see what the summer will bring us - if the tourists have no money, then they won't be coming up here... and that means that we are all going to finally be hit pretty hard by the economic situation at hand.

Consider yourself lucky to have a job. Lost mine  back in February after 23 years @ the same employer. I doubt that I will ever make the money I did before, lost my benefits and @ 55 years old, its going to be a battle to get hired.

Thank God for my Yamaha stereo ( Home Theater ) system :) ..... It takes away some stress from being unemployed. I sold some gear to score some $$$$ and spend part of it to kick start the econemy buy purchasing a new DVD player from Yamaha.
