Could you please let me know the difference between Dyn speaker and BW speaker series 7. What is the better on your experience?

Thank you.

Which Dynaudio series? The Focus series?

Both are great speaker brands, you need to demo them and make a decision based off that. Dynaudios may cost you more in amplification, because they are 4-ohm speakers and more difficult to drive. Generally, I have found the Dynaudios to be superior to the B&Ws for my tastes. That's the key though, you need to demo them and see which you like the best.

IMO you can't compare the Dynaudio Focus line to the B&W 700 series. The Focus are just a better all around speaker. You have to step up to the 800 series B&W to compare apples to apples.

I would agree, but I'm biased being a Dynaudio owner. ;)

IMO, your apples to apples comparison is based on you bias, and not price points.

The Focus line, on avg, is lot less than the 800 series, on avg. So is the Contour line. Heck, maybe even the Confidence line, but I think the Confidence line is the closest, on avg, to the 800 line.

The Evidence/Temptation line, OTOH, is way more expensive than the 800 series.

We are comparing grapefruits to oranges to limes to lemons. ;)

And you can give me any of them, cuz they're all tasty to me! :D

I know that the 700 series is in the same category as the Focus. But the delealer having knowledge of the focus let me audition B&W 800 series Floorstanders instead and they didn't even come close. The dealer, being an honest salesman said that the B$W are not really that speacial and doesnt really "do it" for him:D BTW after much auditioning I finally bought The Dyn contour 3.4s and now already thinking about getteing the C2s or the sapphires.;)

I love your speakers.

In fact, when I auditioned them, they sounded superior to Evidence towers I heard at the same store. Which would seem absurd, but it just goes to show that the room and setup are everything, IMO.

Speaker upgrade is a speaker upgrade, and there's no doubt about that. Just bringing to light that improving the room is sometimes the bang for buck perspective.

B&W 800 series: $2500 - $23000
Dynaudio Focus, Contour, Confidence, and Sapphire: $2000 - $20000

So as you can I was also comparing in terms of price point. While Dynaudio has more speakers in the lineup, price wise they pretty much match.

I also stated in the beginning of my last post that it was IMO so it's obvious bias is involved. But that still won't change that the Focus are a better speaker than the 700 series :p

The post I responded to did not make any mention of Contour, Confidence, or Sapphire.

How much is the most expensive Focus tower? (I honestly don't know). You are comparing that with the cheapest 800 bookshelf? I think my point is still quite valid.

The most expensive Focus tower is almost double the price of the 805S. The Focus 140 bookshelf and 805S are $2000 and $2500 respectively.

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the recent price increase thanks to the weak US$ cough GWBush:mad:. The focus 220 is $3300, the 110 is $1400 and the 140 is $1800. When I auditioned the Dyns vs the B$W I wasn't a fan boi of any brand I was just looking to upgrade from My def tech pro cinema 1000 but honestly there's really no contest between the two even if you throw in the Paradigm studio 120s(which was what I was gonna buy prior to hearing the focus)-they don't stand a chance.

That's weird and I believe you. The Dyn dealers always say that the Contour 3.4s are their special weapon as their is hardly any speaker in that price bracket like it. If I may ask, do you remember what components did the dealer have when you listened to the Evidence-was it the masters or temptations? At that level, they especially require ample amplification and we're not just talking power but excellent current as well. I havent heard the evidence line but only heard the C4s mated with Simaudio Titan and supernova CDP with nordost vahalla cables and my 3.4s cant' even hold a candle to them:D

None of them stood a chance against the Dynaudio or other way around?

You know, I'm sorry I don't know the answer to any of your questions. What I do know is that they ONLY carried Dynaudio as far as speakers. They had, IIRC, Krell and Sunfire as the main amp choices, Sony for PJs, JL audio for subs, nice stuff. I do know that they carried Temptations as well Masters, but I don't remember which I heard. They basically have everything that Dyn makes.

Re components, I can't remember at all. What I do remember was that for the Contour setup, they were using some multi thousand dollar piece just to access its DAC, which I thought was nuts. Just for the DAC in a piece that costs almost as much as the speakers. Of course, they had it available, lying around, so why not I suppose.

I'm very sorry I cannot be of more help. All I know is that I really like Dynaudio speakers.

Thanks I appreciate it! You really need a fairly large room for the dyn evidence plus excellent components as well.... I'm glad I'm not the only one in this forum that likes Dynaudios:D If there's a dealer by you that carries Dyns and Rel subs, you should give them a listen especially the Britania series and up. Forget what the other people say "that SVS and HSU are da bomb". They're ok subs for the price, but there's more to subwoofers than just bass. Rel subs mate very well with Dyns.

That's all I can add, too. I haven't heard the B&W's in question but I really like my Dynaudio Focus 140 as well.

I really like their subwoofers too. Not talked about much, but they sound EXCELLENT.

Dynaudio has too many product lines now though, haha, it gets confusing. Anyone heard the new Excites?

The excites:).They bring a smile to my face. You have to hear them back to back with the focus - in my my case focus 220 vs excite x36! The excite behave more like the contour series-very linear and doesn't jump right at you and are more dynamic. The focus is a lot more musical with a tighter bass. To my ears, the focus wins but in a close contest. The excite series are also easier to drive granting you only have a receiver(like most people). Price-wise its a wash, but the focus has better craftmanship and finish to it.

If they carry Dynaudio, why don't they carry their subs?

Does that dealer actually have the Sapphire in stock? I thought they were out of stock and it was a one-time run.
