My question is in regards to my Hitachi CRT which has DVI not HDMI. At present I use component video from my TV to my Denon 3805. Now the question I am upgrading my Bell satellite receiver which will have HDMI. What cable is required and by going this route am I going to improve the video pwerformance as I will remain using optical for sound.

Thanks for any and all input.

I don't recall any CRTs being 1080p, and if the cable box isn't HD, then it won't make a big difference in PQ. You can get either an HDMI to DVI adapter or they do sell cables that are HDMI to DVI. Both can be bought at www.bluejeanscable.com . I have a second TV which is a Sony CRT and I did notice a small PQ increase going from component to DVI at 1080i with Blu-ray.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. The sat receiver is HD and is HDMI. The reason I was asking is that I have read articles on this site that say the picture quality between component which is an analog signal and HDMI which is digital is minimal. I was just wondering if it is beneficial to use the DVI input on my CRT which is 1080i.
Thanks again I enjoy this site emmensley as it provides a wealth of information.
