I am new here and have to say this is a great source for information, Thanks AudioHolics!!
With that out of the way I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a question.
I am in the market for a new Home Theater Receiver but would like to find one with DVI output so I only have to run the one cable to my Plasma from the receiver and have less junk in the wall. I think I only have seen one Receivers with this and it was ultra high end.
Does anyone have any insight when this feature will become more mainstream on receivers in the 1-2k range? I contacted Yamaha and got the official we don't comment on future hardware.

Thanks in advance..

possible solution

You might not be able to find a receiver in that price range that will support DVI switching, but you can use an external switcher for it to use in conjunction with the receiver of your liking. I believe they sell them at

If you only use one DVD player that has DVI outs, use this to connect to the DVI input of your plasma. Otheriwse, you may have to invest on a video selector box with DVI terminals. I believe newer receivers will sport this facility very soon, not just in their flagship models. Right now I still have to see a receiver with multiple analog 5.1 sources so I can switch between a dedicated DVD-A player and a dedicated SACD player - both requiring analog 5.1 inputs.
