DVI/HDMI everyone is blue

So I just swapped out the component cable on my SA4200HD for a DVI/HDMI cable going to my olevia 232v. I get a picture but everyone is blue and all the other colors are off as well. It kinda looks like it's a negative. I called olevia and the tech there said that it sounds like there is a problem with out of the outputs. Something about it not being backwards compatible. Any suggestions? Should I return this TV and hope that it's a problem with the unit and not with the cable box or the outputs?

hope is a good thing but it doesn't replace logic.

first off, before lugging the TV back, I'd try another source, say a DVD player that upscales/upconverts to HDMI. don't expect a HDTV quality picture but it should be at least very good and the colors should be correct.

With this you can verify that the TV's HDMI inputs are either working correctly or faulty. If you choose, you should be able to return the DVD player, assuming you abide by the store's rules.

Second, is this cable HDMI at one end and DVI at the other? interesting...

Yes, it's DVI at one end and HDMI at the other. It's a blue jeans cable.

I called Olevia and they said that one of the inputs might not be backwards compatible to work with the other one.

Blue Jeans said that they had never heard of a negative picture before and it's not likely that it's the cables fault, but see if I can test it somewhere else and if it is in fact the cable they'll send another.

Cablevision said they had no clue.

The first time I hooked up my 2910 to the TV and used component cables everything looked blue-turns out I hadn't adjusted the output from the 2910 from the factory preset s-video out. check your setup in the Tv and the source if possible.

Bryan...its easier than boxing up your TV to return it-give it a shot...
