Kind of looking at the Dennon 1910, anyone use this with a hi-def tv, looks good for the price..... Faroudja processing, hi def upconvert, and a dvi output. Kind of looking for a new dvd player, I like mine, but I'd like to get one with a dvi out and upconvert just to get the most out of my tv, only willing to spend a max of $250 so I'm not looking for high end player. So any thoughts on the denon or have any other suggestions?

I recently got a Denon 1910 and hooked it to my Infocus Screenplay 4805 projector projecting onto a 92" widescreen. I used the component and DVI connections. The deinterlacing of the 1910 is crap compared to the projector. It was unwatchable. If I let the projector do the deinterlacing, it looked wonderful. To be fair, my projector has a native resolution lower than what the 1910 can produce when upconversion is used but I still thought it should have looked better through the component video using progressive output at 480p but it was terrible. My advice, something BMXTRIX has suggested all along, would be to buy a decent progressive scan player and forget about upconversion.

I kind of disagree with Doug.
When my Samsung HD841 was working, it did produce a superb image. But this player has many faults.
The NeuNeo HVD 2081 produces a great image, and is capable of 1080p 1080i 720p. It plays all of the dvd-r's I've thrown at it. And has not had a problem with originals (something 2 Samsung 841's had major problems with)

Also the 2081 is firmware upgradeable. And will fit your budget.

If your interested in that one, watch for it on the next holiday to go for 199.00 and sometimes 1.00 shipping.

They also have some HD DVD titles. Not many but they were done in a 720p format. I plan on getting The Watcher..

I've heard that brand name before, but not very familiar with it, is that something a universal remote is going to have codes for?

Well, both of my learning remotes, have learned all the codes. But I doubt, that it is included in a regular universal code database.

So if your remote is learn capable, it will work fine.

Remote I use is a TSU3000 and I had a TSU500. But sold the 500. It did work with the codes.

You may also want to check out the Oppo. It has gotten decent reviews for a upscaling dvd player. And I believe it can be had for about 170-190.00

I haven't tried a Samsung player so I can't comment on the performance. If I had to rate the Infocus projector's deinterlacing performance, I would give it an 8 out of 10 while I would give the Denon 1910 a 3 out of 10. I have thought about trying an OPPO or Samsung, but after seeing how poorly the 1910 (which many people rave about) did, I figured I would just wait for the HD war to be settled. I can't see putting more than a few hundred dollars into a player with HD on the horizon. Sure a Denon 3910 or better player may outperform the deinterlacing of my projector, but I'm not sure and the price of admission is too high to find out.

That NeuNeo looks like a cool dvd player, and the fact that it doesnt use HDCP I can upconvert with components if I find another use for my DVI input. I'll def. have to consider that one.
