DVI-D / HDMI...Identical Signal?

Hi Folks,

Just asked a business mate of mine about my DVI-D to HDMI cable that I feed from my DVD player to my HD LCD Screen and he says that the signal would be identical to a signal that would be provided by a direct HDMI to HDMI connection.

However, I have heard it said that the HDMI-HDMI would be a better choice than mixing a DVD-D/HDMI connection:confused:

So, can anyone clarify which is actually correct please; to say I'm confused would be an understatement:eek: My thanks in advance.

Regards,

CRAIG

Exactly the same. You can take a bare cable, put an HDMI connector on one end and a DVI connector on the other end, and it just works.

HDMI is just DVI with a couple of pins for audio and a new shape.

Nothing more.

Many thanks Jonny,

This is more or less what my pal said - I s'pose the other opinion stems from the fact that DVI on AV equipment isn't as popular as HDMI; hence the HDMI-HDMI predjudice?!

But again, thanks for confirming this for me:D

Best regards,

DC
