dvdo iscan vp30

I was wondering if someone could give me some info so I can make a decision about spending 2k on vp30. They say you can upscale any video source to higher definition resolutions. I have a 55 inch lcd projection sony and it is a great tv when watching high def channels or even dvd however regular digital tv from my satelite receiver looks crumby. Will the dvdo actually make these channels look close to my high def channels and if not how much will this upscaler help? I guess when you start stretching 480i satelite signal to fit my 55 inch tv it just ends up looking like crap.

If you watch a lot of video material at 480i, the VP30 with the ABT 102 with would be tremendous value.
