Can someone give me a little bit of insight as to what DVD players can be Modified to have SDI if it is a worth while thing to do and who does the modification? Can you not just buy a DVD player with an SDI output on it already??

Check out this site-- they specialize in codefree and SDI mods. You can either buy a modded player from them or buy the SDI board to install yourself.

I am ready to buy a modded Denon 2910 from these guys, from which I will run SDI to a DVDO iScan HD+ scaler, but I'm still a little unsure about whether it's worth it-- I hear that keeping the signal in the digital domain from disc to projector undoubtedly produces a better picture; but I'm also hearing that digital over long cable runs is incredibly prone to interference. Wondering if anybody has any experience running digital video (DVI / HDMI) longer than say 20 feet... These are expensive upgrades to make if I'm just going to end up using a component run to my projector because i'm not satisfied with the picture!

20 feet does seem long. I have hear that anything over 1 meter can effect the quality of digital.

so does that mean that a DVI connection can never really be used with a projector?
