Hi Guys. I have a up-Conversion question and it may be VERY stupid. In order to get the best picture quality to your HDTV you need up-Conversion either from the DVD player or at the receiver...right? Another thing...If the DVD player has up-Conversion I don't need it in the receiver and vice-versa. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this subject, I really appreciate it.

Correct,

it can come from either source. All depends now how you want to run your set-up and how you assign each component.

Here's the kicker...

Which one's better?

Or is it a matter of just trying each one, depending on the equipment?

Well I didn't see that one coming!!! So the question then should be... Do you need up-Conversion either from the DVD player or at the receiver in order to get the best picture quality to your HDTV? and...If the DVD player has up-Conversion then I don't need it in the receiver and vice-versa...also, Wich way is better?

Thanks for your help guys.

Is your TV able to do the up-conversion as well?
That would give you 3 choices. :)

Ok, if your dvd player has a better up-conversion use that direct to tv.If, by chance your avr's is better then direct the connection that way to the tv.I my self have dvd direct to tv via dvi & cable box with component cables to avr to tv.Why, because dvd and tv both output at 720p but it comes down to how many connection you have avail and how you assign them!!:D
