DVD Recorder

I connected my dvd recorder to my cable box and tv the only thing i get on the playback is the sound what step am i missing here, thank u in advance for any responses

How did you connect the dvd recorder to the cable box, and how did you connect it to the TV? I'm wondering what cables you used. Did you use HDMI cables, cables with RCA connectors, or a coax screw-on connector?

On my old panny dvd recorder, I had to connect the S video and composite cables to my DirecTV receiver to get any video and sound to record on the panny...It should be outlined in the directions if you have any...
