DVD players and black levels

The denon 2910 says it has "Adjustable Chroma Delay and Level, White/Black Levels". Do DVD players play a big role in producing nice looking black levels or is it more the tv/?

I would {guess} it is the TV. My 2900 has quite a few adjustments and I'm just leaving it alone until I run into some sort of color problem, but for right now everything looks pretty darn good. I also read a person can get things messed up even worse sometimes by fiddling with the controls.
