My HK DVD101 has a low whir while DVDs are playing. It's not very loud, but on low passages/when i listen at low levels it's noticeable. Any recommendations on when I can do to change it?
Thanks

Probably not much, I'm afraid. I've noticed that many newer DVD players are a bit noisier than they should be. Especially some of the cheaper ones. My guess is that quietness is not a priority to the mfg'r.

Can't get too upset, this is the only complain I have about the player. Wish there was some insulation or something i could use though.

Well, you could easily do that. You can buy Extreme Dnyamat or B-Quiet pretty cheaply (for the amount you'll need). It's a sound absorber with an adhesive back- you can take the top off and line the underside of it with X-Dmat and get a pretty good amount of quieting.

I have some left over acoustic foam from my walls...if theres enough space within the player, i dont see any problem using that. anyone else?

Well...yeah, I guess. It would be hard to imagine there being that much space inside the player though. You must leave some room for air to move thru. If the case is that big you could try it, assuming there's enough room. Seems unlikely, though.

Yeah my guess is it isn't too likely. It's a decent sized player though, not nearly as small as they're new ones. I'll check it out.

thanks for the help

I opened it up, def can't fit the acoustic foam. Where can I get the small amounts of dynamat/b-quiet?

Found some dynamat and put it on the inside-top. Helped a bit but i may try to use the rest to line the area around the vents since that's where most of the noise has to be escaping.

Tried lining the vent area too and seems to have helped a bit more. the whir is still audible but certainly not as bad. thanks for the advice
