I just bought a Panasonic TC-P50S2 TV and the BD65 bluray player. I hooked them up yesterday and poped in a DVD with the THX optimizer for a quick calibration. After calibrating I noticed the DVD playback did not look as good as it did on my 6 year old 720p Panasonic and 8 year old (pre upconversion) sony DVD player. I took the disk out and played it in my old system to confirm. Is this due to the upconversion? I have it conected via HDMI on my new tv. I may try to connect my old Sony DVD player and see how it looks. My wife even noticed as she said "I thought this was supposed to look better than on our old TV" & "I thought this was supposed to be near HD quality". I poped in a Bluray and it looked great. Any ideas? Also, my new tv is upstairs and I have not been able to connect the Sat. and Antenna but I did connect some rabitt ears and was able to pull in ION. I watched a little bit of "Troy" and it looked grainy. I also noticed the menus look grainy. During Bluray playback I didnt notice this. Has anyone else noticed any grainyness on their S2? Hopefully it was just the feed from ION.
