I have a Onkyo 6 disk dvd player. The player will not reconize the disk. I sent it out to be repaired and was told it would be $300 to repair. I was told that it needed a new dvd mechanizsm. Does anyone know where i can buy these parts on line?

Highly unlikely that you will find a place that sells what you are going to need. Most of what they are going to charge you for is labor though. For even half that price already, you are going to be able to get a better new player so I would just replace it.

Is that the DV-CP701?? I used to have the same model- and I noticed that over the years with some very heavy use it started to wear down. I've found that CD and DVD changers tend to wear down much quicker than single disc players because of the extra moving parts- I no longer buy them because I just don't think it's worth the extra cost.

Totally agree with John- for $300 you're much better off going out and buying something new. You can find some good deals on ebay for an Oppo 980 or 981 for much less than $300, or you can consider going to blu ray. I don't think it's even worth trying to fix yourself.

An alternative might be to look on Ebay and either get a parts player or a replacement of the same model for less than the price of repair, however the same thing is likely to happen.
