DVD or Blu Ray Player

Son needs either a DVD player or Blu Ray player for less than $100. Any Suggestions. I looked a little for a used Oppo 981 but did not see any. There are lots of players for sale Like at BB but don't Know the quality? Thanks

well,whatever model/brand you get,

definitely get a BR,it's backwards compatible with DVD.

Wireless internet enabled right out of the box, easy to set up and navigate, has good selection of internet sites, slim, does everything well. ...hard to beat.

Might be worth the few extra bucks for the features and convenience of wireless internet. These do require uptates periodically and that's the easist way to accomplish that.

Hey Mark, with that Blu Ray player, can you also stream from a laptop for wi-fi desktop? Or are you restricted to what the unit already has onboard?

I have no idea. I haven't even considered that option. I ain't that tech savvy.

Sony wouldnt have included that.. Plus you'd need a transmitter from the laptop to the BR player, unless you're talking about some kind of remote viewing software, but that would be super laggy.

"wifi desktop" as you call it, without knowing the specs of the laptop, would most likely require you to buy a kit and spend a few hundred bucks to get one that didn't suck.. And depending on the unit you need killer wifi speeds.

He's better off hooking the laptop up to the tv using a cable, then adding a wireless keyboard and mouse... Check out Logitech brand. You can run a wireless keyboard and mouse of the same USB dongle so he doesn't take up all his ports. They even have wireless keyboards with backlit keys
