Hi,
The other day I had gone to this High End home theater showroom to check out their speakers and Processors. They carry Definitive tech and paradigms speakers and Anthem and B&K preamps. No doubt their setup was very good but the most awesome thing was their movie screening system. Let me give a very brief description of what I saw. When the theater rep. started the screening it showed thumbnails of 100s of DVD movie covers on the screen and he was browsing through the thumbnails with the remote to select a movie to play. When I asked if it was some kind of DVD changer, to that he said it was a computer system holding all their movies on a Hard drive. It seems they had burned all the movies on a hard drive and downloaded the art from Internet (something like CDDB for CDs). So he basically was browsing through that art work to select the movies. There was no loss in the sound quality, very good actually. But the most mind blowing thing was the price of that setup. The HT rep. said that setup costed them $33,000. If you really want to impress your friends wit HT setup, that was the best thing I ever saw.
After seeing that I have been researching on different ( but definitely cheaper way) to recreate what I saw. Has anybody seen something similar or have setup similar to what I expained in your HTs. Meanwhile I will cotinue with my research and will share with you all if I can recreate even 70% of what I saw.
