DVD Jukebox type changers

Hi,

What do you think of the Jukebox type DVD changers,
Sony, Pioneer Elite, etc... The ones that can hold 300 discs
or more.

Would these types of units wear out your dvds quicker
since they are always housed in the chasis which produces
a lot of heat. Real situation, they would always be warm
or hot, depending on how hot the unit is inside. I don't know
if dust is an issue too.

again, thank you for your comments.

If you keep the unit on all the time there might be a slight heat issue - but even then I tend to think that those units don't get terribly hot (they're not amplifiers).

The main problem with these units is that they only work optimally with external video processing. In other words, I don't know of any large changers that have good quality DCDi-like output for getting a great picture. But... if you have a great display or projector, then you can output 480i and lt the external video processor handle the picture quality.

They are mechanically no differant than the 300/400 disk CD changers, and they tend to be fairly bulletproof if you dont place them on shakey furniture or try to move the unit w/ software in it.

Does anyone know of a good source of reviews for these type of players? Side-by-side comparisons, editorial reviews, customer reviews, etc? I'm in the market but I'd like some info before plunking down my money at Best Buy or Circuit City.

Thanks!
