DVD Hard Drive Recorder Hook-up

Hi Guys and Gals - I have a problem and am looking for some advice please....

I have the following gear: Sony DVD Hard Drive Recorder
Sony Amp/Receiver
Cable Box (Telewest)
Plasma

I am trying to obtain 2 different scenarios:

Scenario A - I am able to play DVD's with best quality video and audio through my receiver and plasma. To this end I have hooked up the DVD Hard drive video output to the Plasma via component cables, and the DVD Hard Drive recorder audio to the receiver via Digital Coaxial cables. So far so good....

However, Scenario B is for everyday use - I also want to be able to tape/play from my DVD Hard Drive recorder and output both the video and audio to the Plasma (i.e. I don't want to turn the Amp on every time I use the DVD Hard drive recorder.)

I have found that when playing back taped programs from my DVD hard drive with the Amp turned off, I get picture but no sound - is there an alternative way to hook up the DVD Hard DRive recorder to the plasma so I get sound, but without compromising video quality (e.g. I was thinking of adding in a scart cable from the DVD Hard Drive Recorder to the plasma - but if I did this, would it override the DVD Hard drive component output to the plasma and the digitial coaxial audio output to the receiver?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
