I opened this topic earlier but in the wrong place. I will try once again here. I have a DENON DVD-910 and I have it connected it to my receiver ( Kenwood Sovereign VR-5080) with component cables and audio cables. My DVD has 24 bit/ 192 Khz DAC but my receiver has only a 24 bit/96 Khz DAC. I heard from somebody that it is possible to use only the DVD's DAC in order to have 24 bit/ 192 Khz output. Can anybody explain to me how can I do this ?(if this is true of course). Thank you.

Hi

I don't know but the DAC is converting Digital to Analog. This means the you would need to use the Analog output of your DVD instead of the digital (optical/cable).

You could try to use the analog output (usually used for SACD and DVD-A) for your Dolby/DTS output. Of course you can also use the stereo analog output, but you would not have 5.1 output for your films.

I am not sure that 192 Khz is so much better than 96 Khz (both being 24 bit) but if you have a DVD-A/SACD it could be worth a try.

Since your DVD-910 only has digital and 1 pair of analog audio ouputs, you have no choice to use your receiver's DAC for Dolby Digital, DTS and HDCD. For regular CD playback, the DVD-910's DAC will be better than the receiver's. Just follow what Pam said and use the analog outputs on a different input on your receiver (i.e. CD input). For your component video output, I would go directly to your set unless the video section of the receiver can handle high bandwidth.

After some testing, I decided to return the DENON DVD-910 back to the store. It is a nice unit but it doesn't do more than the older dvd player I had. Also the sound it's not much better (at least for my ears). The best sound I can get is through the digital coaxial cable. Anyway thanks to everybody who tried to give me an advice.
