A while back this site did a great article explaining the emerging problem with lip sync issues. The situation will only get worse as the sophistication of video processing increases. I see lip sync problems half the time when watching my DVDs on my Samsung HLP-6163. The situation is even worse when I watch it using TV's speakers than when I use my old receiver.

Recently many receivers have started to include that feature. For those who do not have such a receiver there is the Felston unit, if you're willing fork over $250. I am not crazy about having another box, another cable and $250 less in my pocket though.

In addition, with the coming of the new HD players, many of us will be using multi channel analog outputs to be able to use the new codecs, in which case the Felston solution or the receiver feature doesn't play.

The only answer is that the players need to have that feature as well! And if a $200 Oppo can offer such a feature, I think the fancy shmancy blu-ray and hd-dvd machines should as well. The upcoming Tohsiba players do not offer that feature... strike one against them.

One of the reason I've decided to buy one of the new ES Sony players is precisely because they offer the audio delay function.
