DVD and DTS Audio Challenges

Hi there, I have a Panny RP-56 with progressive scan and DTS encoding. I put in the Queen Greatest Hits DTS CD the other day and it skipped and hiccuped a bunch. Thinking it was the disc, I put in another (Eagles, Hell Freezes Over) and the same thing happened.

Has anyone had this experience? I recently used a DVD cleaner disc on the unit, but it is 3 years old now. Could it be toasted? It still plays DTS movies fine, just the audio ones are a problem.

Thanks!

DTS CDs are not the same as DTS movies, though most DVD players should be able to pass the stream fine. Try setting the player to PCM instead of bitstream (the opposite of what is normally recommended for movies, and DTS movies will not work correctly in this mode) and see if the problem goes away.

If you happen to also have a CD player with a digital connection, that should play DTS CDs as well.
