For those who want to send Video straight to the display and Audio signal to the audio gear. This is nice for those who are into true separates. Not sure this a good idea for A/V pre-amp/receivers though since it would eat up an HDMI input.

I just got my review unit in house. Its a sexy beast. I will be directly comparing it to the $500 Oppo. Should be fun :)

What's the "real" benefit to this

Personally I think the idea is retarded and I fail to see the purpose of such a feature. At least the OM states that HDMI outputs can function as 2 traditional HDMI outputs, not just separated video and audio.

I’ve always heard that Denon manuals were a little hard to read…after checking on this feature, I now feel dumber because I had to reread everything like 3 times…geez:confused:

I would only use two of those connections...AC in and HDMI out.

It makes one wonder who would spend so much on it and then use the S-Video output... For the price of it, one could buy the Oppo and a decent HDTV.

Someone might use a composite video connection for adjusting the settings if they are having problems with HDMI, but who is going to need an S-Video connection on a BD player?

Multizone? Maybe? S-Video (pointless connection period IMO)?

I'm with Nib on this one, there is virtually no logical reason for anyone to use a separate HDMI for audio, and the other for video. However there's a perfectly logical reason for Denon to market such a product. The biggest reason is it allows them to say they have something that no one else has and it will appeal to people that literally have money to throw away. The price could be $20,000 and it would be justified assuming they had separates priced respective to the BD player's price. As it is, the price is respective to their current top of the line audio system.
