DVD-A Playback question

Have a new Pioneer player - and instructions say to playback DVD-A discs through the digital, not analog output. Is that right? I know that SACDs have to go thru analog - but thought DVD-A discs did, also. Please help!

You can only play the 2 channel tracks thru the optical output. If you want to play the multi-channel or high resolution tracks, you must use the 5.1 analog outs - same as SACD.
