It is my understanding that you cannot play SACD's and DVD-A's through the optical output to your receiver. My question is, how would you hook up your DVD player to your reciever so that it will play them. I have the Yamaha RX-V2500 reciever. Does my reciever not support DVD-A's and SACD's because it has no IEEE 1394/Firewire interface?

I'm thinking of purchasing Yamaha's S2500 DVD player but what would be the point if the reciever doesn't support DVD-A's and SACD's?

Your receiver supports the play back of these formats, with this player, through the 6 (R,L,C,SR,SL,SUB) analog pre in jacks.

I don't see any pre-in's on the back of my reciever for R,C,L, SL, SR, and Sub. I only see pre out's.

Wait, I found them under "Multi-channel input." Thanks again.
