Dumped Comcast CATV, went to internet only. No more commercials. The only lowlight so far seems to be that TNT doesn't stream that new Dallas series my wife is addicted to. No loss for me, other than listening to the complaining, and saves ~$800 after-tax dollars per year.

Next stop, AT&T and that $216/mo mobile phone bill.

Yep. Comcast just raised my price, so I was online with them for an hour and they didn't budge and I told them "This is why I cancelled you last time..." They gave me a one time credit. Doesn't fix the problem, but it appeased me for now.

AT&T lowered my internet price at the other house and compensated for it by raising my phone bill  so I am going to have to have a talk with them too.

When I dumped CATV I also upgraded to Comcast's 50Mbps internet support. Well worth the $10/mo adder. Of course, gigabit fiber would be nice, but 50Mbps will do for now.

They automatically upgraded me to 50mbps, but the price came with it - they gave it to me for $10/mo more too and said it was for a year. At 6 months I noticed it went to full price, so I complained. They said because I had a different deal for 6 months prior, the price was only good for 6 months, um wrong answer. I was getting 36 on my previous 25mbps feed, so I wasn't complaining already, so I won't have a problem dropping down one level for $25 less/month, but I also have only internet with them no cable.

Interesting. The deal I got was a fixed price for a voice and internet bundle (cellular doesn't cut it for business calls at my house) that runs for 36 months, but once every twelve months the price goes up by $15/mo. A really weird deal, but in my area it wasn't possible to get Comcast internet without also buying CATV until recently. Once I saw the option I jumped on it.

Yeah, here the best deals are when you get both; basically they are giving you the CATV with the Internet. Since I don't want CATV really, I lose out because it would be the same price anyway.

I got rid of cable almost 10 years ago. I wanted to free up some money for a car payment. I really don't miss it. I'm behind the times on shows but that's ok. I'm streaming Lost from Netflix now. I only miss cable when the Packers play on ESPN but that's what sports bars are for.
