Hi

Need help in identifying various AV options, I am looking at a dual zone AV. Want to fix the receiver in my entertainment room and play output in that room and also have the capability of playing a different output in the other room.

Is the dual zone AV a greta idea per se?

Thanks

Yes Zone 2 works just fine on receivers that support it. Most such receivers are 7.1 allowing you to play 5.1 in the main room while simultaneously playing 2.0 (with a potentially different source than the main zone) in the second zone.

The caveat is that most receivers will not allow devices connected to it via a digital connection to be played in the second zone. You have to connect those devices to the receiver using analog audio connections, although since most devices output over the digital and analog connections simultaneously, it's not much of a limitation.
