Dual Voice Coil Impedance

I was recently handed down an old Pioneer Stereo system, complete with 2 Speaker Cabinets.

However, upon closer inspection, I realized that the 12" subwoofer on the right speaker was broken, and the 12" subwoofer on the left speaker rattled pretty badly.

I pulled the speakers out, and checked the impedance on the back. They were both 7.2 ohms. I looked to purchase some new 12" subs to replace the broken ones, and recently purchased 2 Cerwin Vega Dual Coil 8 Ohm subwoofers off of an online retailer.

I am kind of new to this thing, however, and I am not sure if my amps could handle the subs. I was planning on putting a sub into each speaker cabinet, and the subs I took out were both single voice coil. I was also told that if I were to place a 4-ohm sub into the cabinet, it would blow my amps.

Any help would be appreciated.
