dual sub suggestions for roughly 4000k US

did you say you build your own subs? If so, why not get two really good 15”-18” sub drivers, a high quality amp or two to push them and a mini DSP. For $4k you could probably do 4 of them honestly.

Otherwise I would look into the Funk since they are in the Great White North. The new JTR 1400 was recently reviewed on Databass and looks to be pretty awesome, though significant in size.

I'd go with dual JTR 2400s, quad HSU VTF-15H mk2s, or the best option, if you can up your budget or wait for a sale, quad Monolith THX 15s.
My thoughts as well, regarding the HSUs and the Monoliths. It's the depth of the room that makes me feel that way. I like the idea of the Monoliths given their low distortion.
