Dual PB-1000 Pro or PB-3000 (more complex than that though)

So I already have a PB-12 NSD that I absolutely love but I'm wanting a bit more output and consistency in my fairly large theater room.

I've got a bit or cash coming in so it's upgrade time. The options I really have are either getting a PB-3000 or pairing the PB-12 with a PB-1000 Pro. The later of which gives me a little more remainder cash for some other upgrades.

Anyone have thoughts on this? I'm definitely impressed with the PB-12 and I could pair it with a PB-3000 but that feels "wrong" to me lol.

I would definitely avoid pairing the NSD with the 3000. The phase response and dynamic capabilities don’t match up and I think it would be a mess. I do think you might be able to add a pair of pb1000 to the NSD though. It also wouldn’t hurt to get a umik/REW to measure the in room response, as subwoofers seldom perform their best where it’s convenient for them to be placed. And there’s also no guarantee that just adding a second one won’t make some frequency bands worse. You can use EQ but only to a point, and starting with positional EQ(best placement) is rule one.

FWIW, if you can play a long game, a pair of pb3k’s would be pretty badass. Buy one now, and buy a second as soon as you can.

Alrighty, glad I was right about pairing those together, figured it wouldn't be good.

I'll consider both options, either add a PB-1000 or get a PB-3000. The only thing is that the extra $800 to get a PB-3000 is quite a lot considering I can have 2 pretty closely matched subs for so much less.

I'll try out REW and see if I can get the hang of it.

I was thinking for the same price you might buy a pair of pb1000’s and use the NSD in a near field situation, or as a third subwoofer. Imo, those three would yield a much better experience than a single pb3k. But even still, the pb1k/NSD combination pair, would very likely give a better FR even if the single pb3k has more output and extension.
This is an interesting one.

Ah I misunderstood, that's a good option I suppose. I do have room for all 3 in total so maybe that is what I'll aim for, not sure about a near-field layout though, will have to think about the floor plan, I like the idea though for sure.

Is the PB-3000 going to have a lot more mid bass "punch" though? That is one of the areas I feel lacking, things like gunfire in a show don't make my chest shake, still sounds great but doesn't have that same oomph that I'm maybe aiming for.

But having 3 subs for the same price as 1 might be a solid idea, gives me a lot of configuration options and I have plenty of space for it.
