Dual MFW-15's pounding the HT and sounding good. My placement seems to be at odds with conventional wisdom but passes the how does it sound test for several people who have checked it out.

I can't do the crawl test because the size of these monsters so I had to move them around and just listen. I am trying to learn REW as well but right now I just feel stupid using it.

Anyway, here is how they are set up, the bass is incredible and smooth where it needs to be and very intense where it needs to be. Looking at the placement does this make sense or am I just getting lucky?

The room is mostly square at 15x14.

Dual MFW-15s in my room too. 23 x 13 x 8. 2 subs really smooths out the bass in the room. They can also pound your chest!

Agreed, WOTW when they come out of the ground is incredible, the laser than kills people shakes the floor as well. Very enjoyable. :)

I have a 12 in a 12x13 room and it pounds and the thought of dual 15's in a 15x14 room made me :D
It really made it sound smoother! My wife thought it would just over power the room but she trusted me enough to get it. Finding the right placement in this room was the hardest part because I had to use the front wall or nothing.

I am sure it pounds pretty good in there......:D
When I first set the 2nd one up the null was so large I heard almost no bass at 3 of the sitting positions in the room. It was horrible, moving the right sub close to the wall facing straight out and pointing the left one towards the middle of the room transformed it big time.

Playing the Blue Man Group DVD Audio shakes the room so hard your vision blurs and I wonder how much more they can take before something breaks!

Nice pictures of subs. I suggest not messing with REW until the wow factor wears off some.

What mic are you using with rew and what eq system?
I'm using the Radio Shack Sound Pressure meter and no eq, just starting to learn. Need to read the help files, have only started the software, haven't used it yet, need some free time first, but anybody willing to give a quick REW for dummies tutorial I'm game!

Green_Flea,

Sorry to hear that!! Here is the latest info regarding the amp issues, there should be a module available soon to replace the defective ones. I hope to replace the module in both of mine as well but will wait until they die first so people with issues get taken care of first. I'm sure there are some putting in for a new module when their sub still works.

Quote: Dear MFW-15 amplifier folks:

I hope this note finds you well…

After discussing this amplifier situation with our two Engineers here in the USA we have concluded that the singularly BEST OPTION would be to replace the amp module (board) itself inside the MFW-15.

For those of you that have been inside a ’15 – you’ll note that the amplifier has several modules/boards. These include the power supply module – the amp module (itself) and pre-amp/controller module. The amp module is easily replaced – and in taking this road we feel that this is THE BEST SOLUTION for the short term – and well into the life of the complete product.

Delivery time for the new amp modules is about 3 weeks – and we will immediately begin retrofitting our inventory here. The first to leave will be the Warranty Replacements – and once they are all 101% out and on their way, we will begin retrofitting all of our current Finished Goods Inventory as well as the inbound MFW-15’s in Rosewood. Once these tasks are underway – we will take to retrofitting all of our remaining inventory in Colombia (we will do the replacements here in Colorado) and ready that merchandise for sale.

So – in closing let me clearly state that while fixing the amps with the correct (to spec) parts did work – we feel that in order to put our very best foot forward, we want to replace the amplifier module with new ones that perform superbly under any conditions. In doing this, we serve both you and our brand to the very best of our ability.

I will release more information next week to offer any further clarifications that may be needed.

Thank you very much…

All the best…

mls

This is another bad sign for AVS.
Well, per my wife one of my new MFW's was humming very loudly this morning so I had her power them off. I'm hoping it was just her pain in the arse cat that stepped on something or bumped a wire. :(

I'll know when I get home from work.
