Well, looks like Samsung is the first to say that they will offer a player that will play both HD-DVD and Blu-ray formats. Supposedly this beast will be available next year. I can't wait to see the price tag on this baby!!

It seems like it would be a matter of time for someone to figure it out and get it done. The DVD+/- war never amounted to much because within a year there were multi-format players and recorders on the market. If the same holds true for HD discs then we could quickly see both formats just be 'normal' and consumers expected to buy a player that will just 'handle' all the different formats thrown at them. It simplifies things for consumers for sure.

Well, as long as they get a multi-format player.

Can I get that with HVD as well?

The multi-format HD capability is fine, but if the Samsung won't deliver high definition video through component inputs, then I'm not buying.
Any chance there will be an HDMI to component adapter on the market that will feed high definition to component inputs?

Nothing legal will be out to defeat the HDCP algorithym.

I would only expect ANY HD-DVD/BD player to output over HDCP protected HDMI or DVI. Most likely HDMI. This doesn't bug me at all, I want the best possible image and I'm not planning on hacking a darn thing, so what does it matter to me?

Okay, yeah, my projector will have to be upgraded... but it is as good of an excuse as any. ;)

Ah, but will it also be region free?
