Dual 15” subwoofers in 2400 cubic feet, overkill?

Hello,

Ive narrowed my subwoofer selection to HSU duel VTF-2 MK5 or duel VTF-3 MK5.

My room is a semi open finished basement that is 2400 cubic feet. 80/20 movie/music listening.

I know there is no such thing as “over kill” when it comes to bass but realistically speaking, are duel 15s beyond the point of diminishing return (given that I may not be able to flex the 15s as much 12s)

Would the 15” play cleaner than the 12” at similar settings?

Pound for pound which would have the better mid bass?

Please advise, thanks

How loud do you like it? If you really want to blast the bass, get the 15"s. If you are OK with loud but aren't going to push the system really hard, stick with the 12"s. Yes, the 15"s would play cleaner than the 12"s for the same SPL, but you aren't likely to notice until high volumes where the 12"s get stressed. I would say the 15"s are worth the extra expenditure since they pretty much double the midbass of the 12"s while only being about 50% more expensive.
