Dts X vs Atmos experiences?

Watched Nerve in DTS X yesterday, one thing I noticed when compared to atmos, is dts x seems to create a much more convincing bubble of sound, vs atmos, which sounds more like a 7.1 mix with discrete objects thrown into the mix.

I’m almost positive this isn’t simply a mix difference, since I noticed this same effect during the dts x demos. It just sounds more natural, not that atmos sounds unnatural, it just doesn’t seem to do as good of a job portraying the size of the acoustical environment. A scene outdoors in the city feels huge, while a scene filmed inside a medium sized room in a house feels smaller. It seems like dts x processes the sound to have the proper timing delay in order to portray the size of the environment.

Anyone have similar experiences?

I've always preferred dts over Dolby no matter which codec was used.

I always thought the DTS Vs DD debate/fight was way overblown. It got really ridiculous at times. Both are great and now with uncompressed audio the debate is mute anyway.
