DTS Announces Lossless Digital Sound for Cinema

<font color='#000080'>DTS recently announced the development of a system for delivering lossless digital soundtracks into movie theaters. The new technology will allow a soundtrack to be played in the cinema that is a bit-for-bit copy of the original master. Demonstrations of the new system to distributors and exhibitors are slated to take place during 2nd quarter 2004.

Like formats before it, we are curious if this new system will quickly (or not) make its way into the home theater market. We'll keep on top of it and try and inquire as to what DTS' long term goals for this new technology after integrating it into cinemas.
