DSD the new rage?

DSD downloads seems to be the new rage.
Is it really better sounding than HI-Res PCM downloads?
And what is the difference between DSDIFF and DSF?

Still haven't found where DSD is any better, or worse, than 24/96 and 24/192 or the other way around.

I don't know of many people (none personally) who download DSD files.

Most people still download FLAC or ALAC lossless files.

That may be because they sell a DAC that plays DSD. They have a vested interest in making DSD sound like it's the next big thing.

The OPPO 105 and the Darbee model will play DSD.

I haven't played around with DSD Direct SACD since I sold all of my collection.

But IIRC, you can't do bass management (5.1) if you use DSD Direct mode, right?

I remember because I noticed when the DSD Direct showed on my Denon LCD, the Subwoofer logo on the Denon LCD is turned off. I didn't like that at all. So I don't see the value of using DSD.
