Just discovered this genre. I had no idea what I was missing. The main ones Im listening to are DJ Dieselboy, Squarepusher, and Icicle. I thought psytrance was where its at as far a detail and complexity. But D&B easily matches and in some ways tops Trance. The song structures and timings are complex, the samples are weird but really cool, the emotion is just excellent. The sound floor is also sounds infinitely deep and very engaging, especially at high volumes.

Id recommend this genre to anyone who likes heavy electronic music.

I've been listening to D&B for a while. Here are a few people/albums you should def check out. It's only a few, I'll have to go thru my collection and get some more if you want them.

Artcore Vol. 2 and 3
Logical Progression, Level 1 DJ Bukem (One of the very best IMO, 2 disc set)
Promised Land
SixEleven DJ Mixes Volume 1

Can't believe I missed this thread.

Check out Calibre .... also High Contrast.

Tons of Drum & Bass mixes get posted here:
http://www.dnb-sets.de/

Great Calibre mix to start with:

Fabio & Grooverider are on BBC Radio One every weekend, Annie Mac also plays a bit of D&B.

Get High Contrast "Tough Guys Don't Dance"

If you like anything half time you might want to check out the genre "dubstep." You can listen to a recent live mix from me here:

To say a bit more about drum and bass.... it's a great genre of music but its a very wide genre and a lot of times people get turned off of it because they don't start with the right stuff. Also people used to listening to a three minute song, tell them to enjoy a hour long drum and bass mix and some people just can't even try it. I think D&B certainly tops trance, which has gotten so cheesey even its own dj's are dropping it and playing more progressive house. Dubstep has grown over the past decade as well, and like d&b it takes some time to sift through and find what you like in it.

Lots of excellent electronic music out there, but it still hasn't caught on in much of the United States.

I think part of it is that electronic music is an aquired taste, it takes some time to get used to. And for people that don't club, it takes some time to get over "well this was made for someone on drugs" ... when they'd probably really like it given a chance.

High Contrast - If We Ever (d&b)

Mala - Alicia (dubstep)

Burial - Ghost Hardware (dubstep)

Drum and Bass is a particular aspect of the genre of electronic music :) While Primus IS a very entertaining band, they are not part of that genre.

I got my hands on a copy of LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression. First impressions are very good. I like the laid back atmospheric sound. Thanks for the recommendation!

Ill try to check out the other stuff in this thread one of these days.:D

Of what has not been mentioned, I always enjoyed Dom & Roland, Bad Company, DJ? Acucrack, and Pendulum.

Ive dabbled a little bit into dubstep and IDM, 2 genres I really like besides d&b. Ive also heard house here and there.

If anyone likes IDM, check out Wisp, Squarepusher, and U-Ziq. All are very good IMO.
