driving one speaker with either of two inputs

I'd like to double my 2.0 stereo speakers as left and right of a 5.1 AV system. The speakers are biamped (ML 334 and Mac 275), and driven by a ML 38a preamp via a Behringer active crossover. Where should I insert the preout signal from the video amp?
I realize I can go 5.1 preout to 38A aux in, but then each time I watch TV I have to adjust volume and pick aux. channel on the 38A.
Would anybody know of a device that takes two analog inputs, and switches either to an output based on the state of a preamp trigger signal or somesuch? (I'm not too eager to put yet another box in the signal path of my 2.0 system, but a good relay-driven mux wouldn't hurt signal quality, I think.)
If not, what's another good way to get this done?

Life's rough, isn't it?

I realize I can go 5.1 preout to 38A aux in, but then each time I watch TV I have to adjust volume and pick aux. channel on the 38A.
Well, that's pretty much the way 99.99% of the rest of the world does it.

Seriously, I have no life.

That is the only way to get it done. The problem is there is no such unit on the market. There is now a 16 channel mux available. I have a design on the drawing board using it, but have not built one. May be a project for this winter.
